According to the Wall Street Journal, Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Trump back in May that his name appeared multiple times in the Epstein files, along with those of several other high-profile individuals.
During that meeting, Bondi reportedly told Trump that no additional files would be released, citing concerns that many of the names mentioned were based on “unverified hearsay.”

“I’m sure the media will make this as scandalous as possible, but it’s really quite prudent,” one source noted. “Releasing anyone’s name in association with Epstein could destroy their lives and reputations. And we only want that for the people who actually victimized young girls on Epstein’s pedo island. Not just people who Epstein hobnobbed with, of whom I’m sure there are many.”
This context may explain why Trump has emphasized the need for “credible” evidence in calling for further Epstein-related disclosures. “He doesn’t want to improperly smear anyone or be smeared himself, which is what the garbage media will do,” the source added.
