Former Governor of South Carolina and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley announced her run for president in 2024. After her announcement, of course, people had something to say.
CNN’s Don Lemon said that Haley was “not in her prime” to run for president.
“This whole talk about age makes me uncomfortable. I think it’s the wrong road to go down,” Don Lemon argued. “She says people, you know, politicians are something if not in their prime. Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry. A woman is considered to be in their prime in 20s and 30s and maybe 40s. That’s not according to me.”
Lemon was pressed on the issue by his co-host Poppy Harlow.
“It depends, just like prime, if you look it up. If you Google it, when is a woman in her prime, it’ll say 20s, 30s, and 40s,” Lemon continued. “I’m not saying I agree with that. I think she has to be careful about saying that, you know, politicians are in their prime.”
“I think we need a qualifier, are you talking about prime for like childbearing or are you talking about prime for being president?” asked Harlow.
In response to Lomeon’s comments, Haley said that he made his “head explode.”
“It was Don Lemon yesterday, it was Whoopi Goldberg the day before. There will be somebody else tomorrow,” Haley said, adding, “I have always made the liberals’ heads explode.”
“They can’t stand the fact that a minority conservative female would not be on the Democratic side because they know I pull independents,” she explained.
“I wasn’t sitting there saying sexist, middle-aged CNN anchors need to have mental competency tests, although [Lemon] may have just proven that point,” the former South Carolina governor said.
“What I was saying is we need to be transparent. Those elected officials that are making key decisions for Americans on national security and keeping our kids safe and the debt. Yes, we need to know exactly that.”
Haley is one of the first politicians to announce her run. Trump, of course, announced his intent to run in 2022.
Other candidates that may run include Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Tim Scott, Glenn Youngkin, Kristi Noem, and more. None of these politicians have officially announced a run for president in 2024.
Some people speculated Senator Ted Cruz from Texas, but he has announced that he will just be running for re-election as Senator, again.
Also under speculation is who will be Trump’s VP pick for 2024. Many are saying that Marjorie Taylor Greene is a top pick for him. He has not announced anyone as his VP pick yet.
Trump is still the top pick for most GOP voters, with DeSantis always coming in a close second. All other speculate candidates come in the single digits in polls.
All of these possible presidential candidates will have to be America First if they want to gain the respect and votes of the GOP voters.
