Biden Mulls Amnesty for Over 1 Million Illegal Immigrants Married to U.S. Citizens: Report

President Joe Biden is considering an executive order to grant amnesty to over 1 million undocumented immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens but cannot obtain green cards.

The Daily Mail reports that President Biden is exploring new measures to tackle the southern border crisis and the issue of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. ahead of the 2024 election, as many Americans consider this one of their top concerns.

Sources within the White House indicate that the Biden administration is strongly considering a “parole in place” program for spouses of U.S. citizens who were previously denied citizenship.

This program aims to address common reasons for denial, such as repeated illegal entry or previous use of forged legal documents.

Under this program, immigrants would receive temporary status, access to work permits, and a potential pathway to citizenship.

“First step in mass amnesty for illegal immigrants incoming,” The Post Millennial’s Libby Emmons lamented on X following the news.

On Tuesday, other users expressed their dissatisfaction with Biden’s potential amnesty program. One user commented that it would anger Americans who have been separated from their spouses while attempting to obtain legal visas for them.

The details of the potential executive action have not yet been solidified or authorized, but the consideration of taking a substantial step to address another group of immigrants adds to a list of proposals the administration has been evaluating.

The White House has considered timing such an announcement before the election, aiming for a coordinated approach following an executive order that may anger immigration advocates, according to an official.

The Daily Mail reports that hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants continue to cross the southern border every month, placing significant strain on border states as they handle the crisis without sufficient federal support.

Record levels of illegal immigration during Biden’s presidency have led House Republicans to pursue impeachment articles against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas earlier this year, although the Senate dismissed the articles last week.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott commented on the news, questioning, “If Sec. Mayorkas will not be held accountable for refusing to follow federal law, why should any American be held accountable for not following federal law?”

“The Senate applies a double standard for Americans,” he added. “You will reap what you sow.”

Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert referred to the defeated impeachment articles as “a display of distasteful partisan conduct.”

NPR reported that the articles accused Mayorkas of deliberately disregarding the law and betraying public trust.

Democrats viewed the opposition as a policy disagreement, arguing it did not rise to the level of “high crimes and misdemeanors” necessary for impeachment.

Republicans argued that Mayorkas is not adequately enforcing immigration laws.

Chuck Schumer is single-handedly acting as 'judge, jury and executioner' in the Mayorkas impeachment trial.

He is usurping the Senate's constitutional procedures.
