On the controversial plea deal…

The US House Oversight Committee continues its examination of the investigations into Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Among those interviewed is Alex Acosta, the former US Attorney and Secretary of Labor during Donald Trump’s presidency.

Acosta is known for negotiating the contentious ‘sweetheart plea deal’ during Epstein’s 2008 prosecution.

From the Committee’s website:

“The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has publicly released the transcript of Alex Acosta’s interview as part of its investigation into the federal government’s handling of the Epstein and Maxwell cases.”

The Committee also shared letters from former U.S. Attorneys General Eric Holder and Merrick Garland, along with former FBI Director James Comey, all affirming they had no relevant information regarding the Committee’s investigation under 18 U.S.C. § 1001.”

The Oversight Committee’s X account addressed misinformation from Democrats:

“BOMBSHELL: The Acosta transcript just DESTROYED the Democrats’ Epstein–Trump smear.

Ranking Member Garcia and @OversightDems have pushed a LIE against President Trump for months.”

1/ Acosta NEVER spoke to Trump about Epstein.

Not in person. Not on the phone. Not via email.

“He moved in circles that I did not move in.” (p. 65)

That’s directly from his testimony. pic.twitter.com/ZtxcwzsLhc

2/ Trump’s name? Did not appear in the case. (p. 129)

“I have no knowledge of Donald Trump’s name appearing in any Epstein document … (or) being associated with the Epstein investigation in any way.”

“If there was, it’s pretty spectacular it hasn’t leaked by now.” (p. 130) pic.twitter.com/KJfui4ls4H

3/ Did Trump appoint Acosta due to Epstein? No.

“Not in the least bit, no.” (p. 124)

Did Trump ask Acosta to resign? No.

“[It] was my choice. It was not suggested by anyone at the White House that I resign.” (p. 124)

This narrative was fabricated by Democrats. pic.twitter.com/tehpEVa2la

"Not in the least bit, no." (p. 124)

Did Trump ask Acosta to resign? No.

This entire talking point was fabricated by Democrats. pic.twitter.com/tehpEVa2la

4/ Why did Acosta resign?

“If you become a distraction, then it’s not appropriate for you to serve in these jobs. … I did not want to be a distraction to his administration, and I chose to resign.” (p. 125)

The media and Democrats claimed he was forced out. Another falsehood. pic.twitter.com/ZHDux9hBFw

5/ What about Epstein’s plea deal?

“We had an ASSURANCE that he would be in continuous confinement.” (p. 44)

“And had we known that he was going to get work release, this WOULD NOT have gone forward.” (p. 156)

Palm Beach violated that agreement, leading to Epstein’s release. pic.twitter.com/0TWYrHuBng

6/ According to Acosta, the plea deal aimed to ensure Epstein was incarcerated, as a trial posed a risk of his release.

“The trial was a crapshoot, and we just wanted the guy to go to jail.” (p. 26)

Democrats were aware of this yet misrepresented the facts. pic.twitter.com/7lI13TfVbh

6/ According to Acosta, the plea deal was about getting Epstein IN JAIL when a trial risked letting him off completely.

"The trial was a crapshoot, and we just wanted the guy to go to jail." (p. 26)

Democrats knew this and lied anyway. pic.twitter.com/7lI13TfVbh
