Former ESPN personality Keith Olbermann unleashed a controversial tirade on social media after the announcement that the Jimmy Kimmel show would be taken off the air.
The Gateway Pundit reported that ABC affiliate Nexstar decided to remove Jimmy Kimmel from all 32 of its stations on Wednesday, following Kimmel’s comments regarding Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin. Disney also opted to suspend Kimmel’s show.
“Disney is pulling ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ ‘indefinitely,’ the company confirmed to Fox News Digital,” according to Fox.
“Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST) announced that its owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ for the foreseeable future starting with tonight’s show. Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel about the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets,” the statement said.
In an ironic twist, ABC affiliates plan to fill Kimmel’s time slot with a heartfelt tribute to Kirk.
On Wednesday, Nexstar confirmed that all 32 of its ABC broadcast affiliates would indefinitely preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ condemning Kimmel’s remarks about Kirk’s murder as “offensive and insensitive.”
Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest ABC affiliate group, issued a statement on X criticizing Kimmel’s suspension as insufficient and urged the FCC and ABC to take further action. Sinclair’s ABC stations will air a special in memory of Kirk during Kimmel’s scheduled time.
“Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country,” said Vice Chairman Jason Smith. “We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to promote respectful and constructive dialogue in our communities. We appreciate FCC Chairman Carr’s comments today, and this incident underscores the urgent need for the FCC to take regulatory action regarding the control local broadcasters have by the large national networks.”

Olbermann reacted to these developments by telling Sinclair broadcasting to “Burn in hell… alongside Charlie Kirk.”

Users on X criticized Olbermann, with one comment stating, “Our Takeaway: You Want Us To Die. At some point, we have to draw a line. We aren’t cancelling you for the same arbitrary reasons you cancelled us in 2020. We are cancelling you because if we don’t, then you actually will kill us, and the country is going into civil war.”
Another user addressed Olbermann directly, saying, “Hello Mr. Olbermann, This is going to be a different ‘Hello’ than usual. I cannot bring myself to do a snarky post, not when you have revealed yourself to have so much hatred in your heart.”
