Emotions ran high at the Kennedy Center on Sunday as attendees gathered to remember Charlie Kirk, who was tragically shot in the neck during a debate with students at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Thousands attended, many standing in lengthy lines to hear tributes from figures such as Karoline Leavitt, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Speaker Mike Johnson, DNI Tulsi Gabbard, and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, in a historic homage to Charlie Kirk.
A notable moment came from 14-year-old Bryson Levy, who impressed Real America Voice’s Ben Bergquam with his remarks about Kirk:
BEN: “Young man, can you share why you’re here and what Charlie Kirk meant to you?”
BRYSON: “He was my idol. Watching his videos inspired me to be like him. His calm demeanor during debates, even when confronted by loud opposition, was remarkable. They hated him because he stood firm in his beliefs, and ultimately, they killed him for it.”
BEN (in awe): “What’s your name? How old are you?”
BRYSON: “I’m Bryson Levy, 14.”
BEN: “God bless you, young man.”
Keep an eye on this kid; he’s destined for greatness.
Inside the hall, Speaker Mike Johnson struggled to hold back tears while recounting Kirk’s compassion, stating, “We know exactly where Charlie is right now.”
Karoline Leavitt followed with a moving seven-minute tribute, sharing how Kirk had faith in her when others did not, highlighting the impact of his kindness.
DNI Tulsi Gabbard addressed the “empty” individuals who mocked Kirk’s death, saying, “Those filled with anger and hopelessness, some protesting outside today, lack the spiritual fulfillment Charlie possessed. Their anger stems from their rejection of God, making Him their enemy.”
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared touching anecdotes, including that his 17-year-old niece Zoe now carries a Bible to college, wanting to “live like Charlie Kirk.” He also revealed that Kirk was the “primary architect” of his unification with President Trump, even suggesting the idea of lighting sparklers on stage during their handshake.
Kennedy’s closing remarks resonated deeply, igniting chants of “USA!” after he recounted a private conversation with Kirk about the risks they faced. He emphasized, “Charlie gave his life so that the rest of us would not have to suffer those fates worse than death.”
Kari Lake, in a poignant speech, urged parents to reconsider sending their children to universities, which she labeled as “indoctrination camps.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna reflected on her travels with Kirk, stating, “Charlie Kirk didn’t need college. College needed Charlie Kirk.” This line instantly resonated with the audience, likely to inspire future merchandise.
The night was a powerful tribute to one of the most influential young figures in recent history.
