Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has formally requested that the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigate the 2020 Presidential Election in Georgia.
The request, addressed to Marshall Yates, the FBI’s Assistant Director in the Office of Congressional Affairs, and Dario Camacho, Supervisory Official of the Office of Legislative Affairs, specifically calls for an investigation into the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office and Fulton County.
In July, the Georgia State Election Board (SEB) passed a resolution asking for an investigation into “outstanding allegations,” particularly SEB complaint 2023-025. That complaint stemmed from research conducted by Kevin Moncla of the Election Oversight Group and Joseph Rossi.
The request states:
“The Georgia State Election Board (SEB) passed a resolution on July 30, 2025, asking the Secretary of State and Attorney General of Georgia to seek the assistance of the Department of Justice in resolving outstanding allegations regarding violations of Georgia and federal election law in recent elections. Specifically, the resolution referenced SEB complaint number 2023-025, which alleged that there was serious error by the Fulton County Board of Elections (BOE) in the 2020 election. While the Secretary of State and Fulton BOE reached a negotiated settlement, the SEB has ruled that the matter has not been decided. In an effort to complete the investigation, the SEB issued a subpoena for 2020 election documents to the Fulton BOE, but they have refused to comply.”
It continues:
“Because the Georgia Attorney General and Secretary of State have declined to investigate this matter or provide assistance to the SEB, federal involvement is necessary. This case demonstrates that the public records and other extant documents include sufficient information to start an investigation of unreconciled election data, improper procedures, and the failures of the Georgia election system overall, including the machine-related components of that election system.”
Joe Biden was declared the winner in Georgia by 11,790 votes after two machine counts and a hand recount. The hand recount in Fulton County uncovered thousands of votes that had not been initially counted.
The SEB complaint highlights numerous discrepancies, including 17,852 votes of “unknown provenance” with no physical ballots and 20,713 votes counted from “unreported and unidentifiable tabulators.” Records showed no evidence these ten tabulators existed, as their serial numbers were not logged. Open Records Requests to Fulton County returned with “No such records.”
Other discrepancies included differences between the original and second machine counts. Machine Count 1 reported 528,777 ballots, while Machine Count 2 showed 511,543 — a difference of 17,234. On December 4, 2020, after the reporting deadline, Fulton County “found” 16,382 votes.
Emails obtained through Open Records Requests showed that on December 3, 2020, Fulton County Elections Director Rick Barron sent a report with 511,543 tabulated votes to Ryan Macias of The Elections Group — 12 hours after the deadline. The following day, thousands of additional votes were added.
During certification meetings, Barron explained that duplicated batch IDs on a scanner led to missed counts, which were later re-scanned or appended. Fulton County Board member Mark Wingate questioned the discrepancies, noting the reconciliation prevented a larger shortfall of several thousand votes.
Additional claims have surfaced, including sworn testimony that no signature verification was performed due to faulty equipment, and concerns about missing chain of custody records. Open Records Requests also showed inconsistencies regarding claims of audits of voting machines.
Experts involved in the Curling v. Raffensperger lawsuit testified that over 17,000 ballot images were missing from recount results and that more than 376,000 original ballot image files were unaccounted for, making a proper audit impossible. Professor J. Alex Halderman also demonstrated in court that Dominion ICX Ballot Marking Devices could be hacked with simple tools.
The DOJ and FBI have not yet responded to Greene’s request.
