FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly uncovered thousands of documents related to the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, according to sources who spoke with Fox News Digital. The documents were hidden in several “burn bags”—containers typically used for disposing of classified or highly sensitive materials—inside a concealed room at FBI headquarters.
Among the materials found was the classified annex to former special counsel John Durham’s final report. That annex reportedly contains the raw intelligence Durham reviewed. Its declassification is currently being coordinated by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Acting NSA Director William Hartman.
Once declassified, the annex will be sent to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who is expected to release it to the public.
Sources familiar with the annex revealed that it includes credible foreign intelligence suggesting the FBI planned to push the Trump–Russia collusion narrative before formally launching the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. One source stated the annex “predicted the FBI’s next move with alarming specificity.” That same source added that its release could substantiate claims of a coordinated effort within the government to aid Hillary Clinton’s campaign by linking Donald Trump to Russia.
“Mere days after this intelligence was collected, the FBI launched Crossfire Hurricane,” the source noted. “It’s really hard to see how Brennan, Clapper, and Comey are going to explain this away.”
Sources also disclosed that Patel’s team discovered a previously unknown Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) inside FBI headquarters.
Fox News Digital reached out to former FBI Directors Christopher Wray and James Comey for comment, but neither responded.
During a June interview with Joe Rogan, Patel discussed the discovery, saying he found a hidden room packed with documents and hard drives: “Just think about this,” he said. “Me, as director of the FBI, the former ‘Russiagate guy,’ when I first got to the bureau, found a room Comey and others hid from the world in the Hoover Building—full of documents and computer hard drives no one had ever seen. They locked the door, hid access, and just said, ‘No one’s ever gonna find this place.’”
Patel and his team have been reviewing the recovered documents, some tied to highly classified investigations, including Crossfire Hurricane. Sources said the discovery was made in response to a request from Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who has been investigating the Trump-Russia narrative’s origins and pushing for full transparency related to Durham’s findings.
Patel has since turned over the documents to Grassley, whose team is now examining them as part of their ongoing probe. Patel’s staff continues to process the remaining files and plans to submit them to Congress in response to formal investigative requests.
The full implications of this discovery are not yet clear, but early findings point to a potential cover-up involving high-level intelligence officials. As one source put it, “They tried to destroy the evidence, and there had better be hell to pay.”
