President Donald Trump criticized Democrats on Truth Social over the massive debt incurred by Kamala Harris’ failed presidential campaign.
Despite raising over a billion dollars in the months leading up to the 2024 election, Harris’ campaign reportedly ended with at least $20 million in debt. According to reports, the campaign spent lavishly, including $1 million paid to billionaire Oprah Winfrey for hosting a town hall and making a single public endorsement in Pennsylvania.
An additional $20 million was spent on celebrity concerts in key battleground states, with performances from Bon Jovi in Detroit, Christina Aguilera in Las Vegas, Katy Perry in Pittsburgh, Lady Gaga in Philadelphia, and 2 Chainz at a rally in Atlanta.
In the aftermath of the election, Trump initially joked about covering Harris’ debts. However, his tone has since shifted to a more serious accusation of potentially illegal activity.
“I’m looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, “and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for ‘expenses,’ to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to very low rated TV ‘anchor,’ Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING! These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records.”
