Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said President Donald Trump should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in securing a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
“We should support Israel,” Jordan told National Report. “President Trump has been a strong supporter of the state of Israel. There’s a special bond that exists between our country and that country. What President Trump did when he went in and took out the nuclear capabilities of Iran, I think is just tremendous.”
Jordan emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, calling Israel “our best friend, our best ally,” and highlighting the shared “cultural, moral, religious, Judeo-Christian value system.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
“I think President Trump certainly is deserving of that honor,” Jordan added. “You go back to his first administration, the Abraham Accords, what he was able to do, him and his team in the Middle East. You look at what he’s trying to do with Ukraine and Russia. You look at this situation with what he did with Iran.”
Jordan also noted that other Middle Eastern nations, including Saudi Arabia, recognize and appreciate Trump’s actions regarding Iran.
“Let’s hope President Trump actually gets the Nobel Peace Prize,” Jordan said.
