Vice President J.D. Vance has weighed in on the ongoing conflict between President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk.
The exchange reached new heights after Musk alleged that Trump had ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In response, Vance issued a public message backing the president.
“President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads,” Vance wrote on X. “I’m proud to stand beside him.”

Prior to his statement of support, Vance made light of the day’s drama while teasing an upcoming interview with podcaster Theo Von, joking: “Slow news day, what are we even going to talk about?”

Vance’s comments came shortly after Musk suggested he may be open to reconciling with Trump, despite earlier calls for the former president’s impeachment and removal from office.
While the tension appeared to ease somewhat, the core of Musk’s criticism reportedly stemmed from Trump’s opposition to a proposed bill Musk supported, referred to as the “Big, Beautiful Bill.” Trump, in turn, hinted that Musk’s motives may have been personal or financial.
“Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” he added. “I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!”
Meanwhile, investor Bill Ackman urged the two to reconcile:
“Trump and Musk should make peace for the benefit of our great country. We are much stronger together than apart.”
