Elon Musk has shared a photo of himself posing in the Oval Office while wearing an oversized Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat. The billionaire tech mogul posted the image on his X platform late Thursday, showing him grinning in front of President Trump’s desk.
In the photo, the 53-year-old Musk can be seen with his hands outstretched and a wide smile, as the massive MAGA hat appears to dwarf his head. Musk did not provide any context for the photo.
Eagle-eyed social media users quickly pointed out several notable items in the background, offering a glimpse into the revamped Oval Office. Among them was a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy, placed on a table behind Trump’s desk ahead of the U.S. hosting the 2026 tournament. The trophy was accompanied by a handful of framed portraits.
Some users also noted a small object on the Resolute Desk that appeared to resemble one of the pagers gifted to Trump by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier in the week. The pagers were reportedly used in a targeted attack against Hezbollah terrorists.
Musk has been a frequent presence by Trump’s side since being named head of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The department aims to cut federal spending by up to $2 trillion.
The Tesla and SpaceX founder has recently made headlines for his efforts to shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which provides humanitarian aid to over 100 countries. Musk has called the agency a “criminal organization” that should “die.” Additionally, he recently gained access for his team to the Treasury’s payment system, a move criticized by Democrats as an overreach and a coup.
