Former Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake has announced that she will not pursue elected office again.
Lake, who ran for governor in 2022 and lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs in a race many argued was unfairly influenced, most recently fell short in a Senate bid against Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego in November.

“We know the movement that we have in Arizona, and I will never take that for granted. But there is a corrupt machine here that is hellbent on making sure I never hold office,” Lake wrote in a post on X on Saturday. “So, I won’t put my family (and myself) through the torture of running again.”
Despite stepping back from electoral politics, Lake hinted at a new direction for her career. “I will go to Washington, D.C., return @VOANews (Voice of America) to its glory days, and help President Trump Make America Great Again,” she continued.

President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Lake to lead the Voice of America (VOA), the U.S. government-funded global news outlet. Announcing her appointment, Trump emphasized her mission to promote American principles of freedom and fairness globally. He stated Lake will “ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the lies spread by the Fake News Media.”
