President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has appointed Mark Burnett, the creator of The Apprentice, as Special Envoy to the United Kingdom.
“It is my great honor to appoint Mark Burnett as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “With a distinguished career in television production and business, Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role.”
Burnett’s role as Special Envoy will focus on strengthening diplomatic ties between the U.S. and the U.K., with particular emphasis on trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.
In addition to creating Trump’s former show The Apprentice, Burnett has an extensive background in television production, having created and produced acclaimed programs such as Shark Tank, Survivor, and The Martha Stewart Show.
Burnett’s nomination underscores Trump’s unconventional approach to diplomacy, leveraging Burnett’s unique skills and global connections for fostering U.K.-U.S. relations.
