BREAKING: Jack Smith and Merrick Garland Plan Final Move Against Donald Trump

Report: Prosecutor in Jack Smith’s Team Deterred FBI Inquiry into Clinton Foundation in 2016

With Donald Trump emerging victorious in the 2024 election, special counsel Jack Smith and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have officially dismissed all federal charges and appeals against the incoming president. However, as RedState reported, Smith did so in a “petty” manner, opting not to dismiss the charges with prejudice, theoretically leaving the door open for a future Democratic administration to re-indict.

Still, the likelihood of that happening seems slim. With Trump set to serve another four years, the chances of a Democrat president in 2029 taking such a political risk over what will likely be a non-issue by then are low.

That said, Smith is reportedly preparing one final surprise with the assistance of Attorney General Merrick Garland. According to sources, a “report” detailing the evidence against Trump will be released publicly, sparking what many expect to be a frenzy among media outlets like MSNBC.

Multiple accounts that Smith is preparing a report and that Garland will release it publicly, all before the inauguration.

The report is expected to outline Smith’s findings on key cases involving Trump, including allegations of election interference and mishandling classified documents. Merrick Garland is anticipated to release the special counsel’s report personally.

“Historically, these special counsel reports are quite detailed,” CNN legal analyst Elie Honig said in an interview with Jim Acosta on Tuesday morning. “I think this will be Jack Smith’s last and best chance to tell his story in both cases. He’s already done that to some extent through his indictments and court filings, but this will be it — this will be the historical record.”

While figures like Jim Acosta and Rachel Maddow are sure to celebrate the report’s release, the broader public reaction is likely to be more indifferent. The writer comments, “Far from being the ‘historical record,’ it will be the word of a man who served as a partisan apparatchik for an administration seeking to put its political opponent in jail to influence an election. Whatever he releases will just come across as the last shallow gasp of a failed special counsel.”

To put it plainly, the report seems unlikely to resonate with voters. “If any of this mattered, Kamala Harris would have won the election,” the writer observes. No doubt, the report will feature salacious allegations aimed at spoiling Trump’s second inauguration, but it will ultimately lack any real power. “In that sense, I’m almost happy it’s being released,” they add. “It’ll be entertaining to see Joy Reid and company whip themselves into a lather over something that will have zero impact on the incoming administration.”

The release of the report, however, highlights what the writer sees as a pressing need for reform at the DOJ. “By releasing a report on charges that were ultimately dropped, they are showing themselves to be the partisans everyone already knew they were. It’s like the Democrats doubling down on trans insanity post-election. All it does is underscore why they lost.”

As for Trump, his response may vary, but the writer suggests ignoring the report altogether. “The press wants a response that leads to a massive public debate in the same vein as the Mueller investigation. Letting their last desperate attempt die on the vine would only make them angrier.”
