President Biden will host President-elect Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Wednesday for the traditional post-election meeting, according to the White House.
While these meetings are customary between outgoing and incoming presidents to signify a peaceful transfer of power, Trump did not host his Democratic opponent for a similar sit-down in 2020 after his own loss to Biden.
Biden called Trump on Wednesday to congratulate him on defeating Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the general election and extended an invitation to meet in the Oval Office, the White House confirmed on Saturday. The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Trump will be the first former president to return to the White House since Grover Cleveland won back the presidency in the 1892 election.
