Republican Sen. Rick Scott of Florida criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for his recent remarks about former President Donald Trump, noting that McConnell’s comments come shortly before the election.
“While Leader McConnell and I have fundamental disagreements, I am shocked that he would attack a fellow Republican senator and the Republican nominee for president just two weeks out from an election,” Scott told Blaze News.
McConnell was quoted in his upcoming biography, “The Price of Power” by Michael Tackett, as criticizing the “MAGA movement” and Trump’s influence on the GOP, stating that former President Reagan “wouldn’t recognize” the party today.
Additionally, McConnell criticized Scott’s performance as Senate campaign committee chair, alleging that his leadership led to poor campaign strategies.
Scott, who is competing with other Republican senators for McConnell’s position, argued that he supports Trump’s transformative approach and the choice of Republican voters, while McConnell “doesn’t.”
