The Justice Department has reportedly warned Elon Musk that his America PAC may be violating federal law with its $1 million giveaways to registered voters, according to CNN.
The DOJ’s public integrity section, which handles electoral law, recently sent a letter to Musk cautioning that his high-dollar incentives to swing-state voters for signing his petition could be illegal.
Since last Saturday, Musk has been offering prizes to residents of battleground states who sign a petition supporting freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. However, federal law prohibits offering monetary rewards to incentivize voter registration.
