Polling data released Sunday showed both Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump tied at 48% among voters, with three weeks left for either to sway the race in their favor. When asked about these numbers, Lara Trump interpreted the data as a sign that Trump is actually leading, noting, “You never see the actual reflection” of voters and suggesting that recent moves by the Harris campaign reveal panic.
“You don’t go from running a basement strategy like Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have done, basically for the entirety of their campaign, to all of a sudden, then, Sean, sending Kamala Harris on Fox News with Bret Baier if what you’re doing is working,” Lara Trump said during an appearance on Fox News’s Hannity. “You don’t send Tim Walz out to embarrass himself in some sort of pretend faux hunt if what you are doing is working because what they are doing is not working. We can all see it. These two are phonies. These are phony candidates for whom no one voted.”
Lara Trump also drew a comparison between the current deadlock in polling and the 1980 election between then-President Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. She pointed out that Trump, like Reagan, is actively campaigning “in the Bronx” and speculated that the Electoral College map this year could resemble the one from 1980.
She also echoed the call of other Republicans, urging voters to participate in early voting where possible, as it would allow the Republican National Committee (RNC) to direct resources to those who haven’t yet cast their ballots.
Additionally, Lara Trump discussed the impact of Hurricane Helene on North Carolina voters, suggesting that voting exceptions should be made for storm victims. She reiterated that the RNC is working with Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC) to ensure displaced residents can still vote and said that the state legislature “agreed with all the things that we brought to them.”
