Travis Kelce playfully called out his brother Jason Kelce after the retired NFL star unintentionally made a Taylor Swift pun during their podcast.
While discussing Travis’ upcoming Kansas City Chiefs game against the Cincinnati Bengals on the “New Heights” podcast Wednesday, Jason, 36, made a casual comment that caught Travis’ attention. “There’s been bad blood between you two teams for four or five years now,” Jason said, referring to the rivalry between the franchises set to face off at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
Travis, 34, quickly jumped in, pointing out the accidental reference to Swift’s 2014 hit, “Bad Blood.” “OK, ‘Bad Blood.’ I hear you, ‘Bad Blood,’” Travis quipped.
Jason burst into laughter, explaining that he doesn’t even “try and do it,” but the wordplay “just happens.” Travis jokingly replied, “It’s just in you now.”
Jason defended himself, noting that Swift uses common phrases in her songs that anyone might naturally say. But Travis kept up the banter, claiming he’d “never heard” the phrase until Swift made it famous in her chart-topping single.
Jason, seemingly exasperated, responded, “You’ve gotta be … bro … anyways,” and quickly shifted the conversation back to football.
Travis had Swift on his mind throughout the episode, making other references to his girlfriend. When Jason read an ad for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Travis chimed in to root for the pop superstar. “Hopefully Taylor can walk away with a few!” he said, referring to Swift’s 12 nominations this year.
Jason also cheered for Swift, shouting, “Let’s go, Tay! Come on, Tay!” Travis followed up by wishing the other nominees luck, but Jason joked, “Unless you’re up against Tay.”
Though Travis likely won’t attend the VMAs at UBS Arena in Long Island, NY, due to prepping for his game against the Bengals, Swift continues to support him. She recently attended the Chiefs’ 2024 season opener against the Baltimore Ravens and joined Travis for a New York City date night. The couple also shared PDA at the 2024 US Open men’s singles final alongside Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.
