Former President Trump and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp appeared to put their long-standing feud to rest on Thursday as they exchanged mutual endorsements. Kemp, speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity,” offered a strong endorsement for Trump, saying, “We need to send Donald Trump back to the White House.”

Despite having criticized Kemp as recently as early August, Trump responded with kind words on social media. “Thank you to Brian Kemp for all of your help and support in Georgia, where a win is so important to the success of our Party and, most importantly, our Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social shortly after Kemp’s appearance on “Hannity.” He added, “I look forward to working with you, your team, and all of my friends in Georgia to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump’s earlier criticisms of Kemp, including calling him “a bad guy, a disloyal guy, and a very average governor,” stemmed from Kemp’s refusal to help overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. Kemp had refused to allow Georgia’s Republican state legislature to hold a special session to install pro-Trump electors to the Electoral College, leading Trump to call for his resignation.

Despite Trump’s attacks, Kemp won his 2022 gubernatorial race, defeating Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams with 54% of the vote. Kemp remains one of the more popular figures within the Republican Party, with approval ratings around 63%, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
