Democrats have an interesting way of promoting unity and inspiration; they often think that demonizing half of the American electorate somehow achieves this goal. We saw it with Hillary Clinton’s “Basket of Deplorables” comment and Obama’s disdain for Americans who “cling to guns or religion.” This elitist attitude resurfaced with Biden’s 2022 “Red Speech,” where he used dramatic rhetoric to accuse Republicans of being a force that “threatens the very foundations of our republic.” He continued this divisiveness in his 2024 State of the Union address, where he essentially labeled Supreme Court justices as enemies of the nation.
Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is the latest to join this trend, advocating for unity while simultaneously delivering divisive rhetoric. In one breath, she called for harmony, and in the next, appeared to label her political opponent, Donald Trump, a coward (emphasis mine):
“This campaign is about a recognition that, frankly, over the last several years, there’s been this kind of perversion that has taken place, I think … which is to suggest that the measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you beat down,” Harris told supporters during a campaign stop in Rochester, PA. “When what we know is the real and true measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you lift up.”
“Anybody who’s about beating down other people is a coward,” she added.
Although she did not directly name Trump, her main challenger, the remark aligns with the Harris campaign’s focus on strength, leadership, and democracy, contrasting herself with Trump on the trail in recent weeks.
Ms. Unity claims, “Over the last several years, there’s been this kind of perversion that has taken place…” Really? Who’s been in charge over the last “several years?” You, Biden, and your administration, which has consistently delivered some of the most divisive commentary out there.
While Donald Trump often faces criticism from the mainstream media for his use of derogatory nicknames for his opponents, will they call out the “divider-in-chief” who, despite being in office, is still seemingly in power even as the Democratic elite just forced one of their own to end his reelection campaign?
How about this for “the true measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you lift up”:
This week, as the Democrats’ convention opens in Chicago—ignore the expected violent pro-Hamas protests; it’s just people “exercising their First Amendment rights”—their hypocrisy will be on full display. They will call for high-minded political discourse while engaging in the same divisive tactics they criticize. Trump, for better or worse, is unapologetically himself. The Democrats, however, often hide behind a facade of centrism while quietly pushing extreme activist agendas (see: CA radical Gov. Gavin Newsom).
Biden, Harris, and Walz preach tolerance and unity, but in reality, they spend their time race-baiting, demonizing anyone who disagrees with them, and driving wedges between regular Americans. They claim to want to unite the country while doing everything in their power to divide us, and frankly, it’s disgusting. Kamala Harris is just more of the same.
