Joe Biden has previously stated unequivocally that he did not share any classified information with ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer while Zwonitzer was helping the Democrat compile a book that was released a few years ago. This claim, however, is now contradicted by evidence: Biden’s own words in a transcript of his conversations with Zwonitzer.
“There do exist written transcripts of President Biden’s interviews with his ghostwriter where they discuss classified material, and that Special Counsel Hur relied upon those written transcripts in coming to his conclusions [that Biden was a ‘well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory’],” explained Kyle Brosnan, counsel to the Oversight Project, in an interview with Fox News.
The documents were revealed during a court hearing on the organization’s freedom of information case involving the federal government. Confirmation of the documents’ existence came from the Justice Department, which informed the court that the transcripts had been found. This case is seeking records from Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified government documents, which were discovered in Biden’s private offices, his home, and in a relatively unsecured garage alongside a collectible car.
Biden has consistently denied any such conversations, but the issue has gained political significance since Hur recommended no charges against Biden—citing Biden’s mental state and diminishing cognitive abilities. Conversely, the same federal laws have been used to levy numerous charges against President Donald Trump for his possession of government documents.
It’s important to note that the two cases differ significantly. As president, Trump had the authority to declassify documents, whereas Biden, during his tenure as a senator and vice president, did not possess such authority.
The DOJ confirmed it found 117 pages of transcriptions. The report stated, “The ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, was previously subject to a March subpoena from the House Judiciary Committee, which sought any and all documents, contracts and recordings of interviews and conversations with Biden.”
“However, Oversight Project counsel Kyle Brosnan said on Wednesday this particular revelation is both new and further animates the need for transparency in regard to questions about Biden’s competency,” according to the report.
Brosnan highlighted that the discovery of the documents has been a topic of discussion with the DOJ regarding the next steps in the process. Previously, federal officials claimed there was no verbatim transcript of the recordings, which are now being sought by GOP members in Congress who argue they are essential for reviewing Biden’s mental competency and determining if impeachment is the appropriate course of action.

Last month U.S. Florida District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the Trump case citing problems with the unlawful appointment of special counsel Jack Smith.”
However, Smith is urging an appeals court to overlook questions about his questionable appointment and reinstate his case against Trump.
