President Joe Biden stated that Vice President Kamala Harris, the newly chosen Democratic nominee, is not more “progressive” than him on policy issues. Additionally, the former president hinted at his plans to attend the January inauguration, regardless of which candidate wins.
Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Biden, “How much more progressive is Vice President Kamala Harris than you as a candidate in the general?”
As he was leaving the White House to attend an event in Louisiana, the president responded, “The issues we’ve worked on together have made big progress economically,” Biden said.
“No one calls what we did on infrastructure progressive. It’s a good policy,” Biden added.
Later, as reporters questioned him about attending a potential Trump inauguration, Biden suggested that he would be present. This exchange took place as he was boarding Air Force One on Tuesday.
“I have good manners,” he told reporters, as reported by Newsweek. “Not like him [speaking of Trump].”
Biden was referring to former President Donald Trump’s decision to skip the Democratic president’s inauguration in 2021, which was the first instance in over 150 years where an outgoing president did not attend his successor’s inauguration.
