Former Rep. Charlie Rangel, 94, Questions if Biden Should be in a Nursing Home Instead of the White House

Former Rep. Charlie Rangel, 94, Questions if Biden Should be in a Nursing Home Instead of the White House

Former Harlem Congressman Charles Rangel, who is 94, recently questioned if President Biden should be in a nursing home instead of the White House following last week’s debate performance.

Rangel expressed his surprise and embarrassment at the debate on 770 WABC radio’s “The Cats Roundtable” and noted that Biden seemed confused during his responses.

Rangel, who served in Congress from 1971 to 2017, mentioned that both candidates should consider taking cognitive tests to assess their fitness, with Trump being just three years younger than Biden at 78.

Rangel pointed out that Biden’s debate performance raises concerns about his ability to handle another four years in office.

He also highlighted the need for voters to remember Trump’s legal issues, such as his conviction in the Stormy Daniels hush money case. Despite these criticisms, Rangel observed that voters in most states will likely support their party’s nominee regardless of their flaws, with the election coming down to key battleground states.

Rangel remarked that if Trump were imprisoned, Republicans would still support him, and if Biden were in a nursing home, Democrats would continue to back him. However, Rangel acknowledged Biden’s strong performance the day after the debate, noting he was articulate and effective, which made him question why Biden couldn’t deliver the same during the debate.

Despite calls from some liberal outlets and Democrats for Biden to step aside, he intends to run for re-election. During the debate, Biden frequently stumbled and at one point misspoke, saying, “I beat Medicare.” While Rangel faced physical health challenges towards the end of his 46-year congressional career, he remained mentally sharp.
