In Nevada, former President Donald Trump holds a 3-point lead over President Joe Biden according to a recent AARP poll.
Released on Tuesday, the survey shows 48% of Nevada voters favoring Trump, while 45% support Biden. When independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is included, Trump’s lead extends to 7 points. Although Kennedy plans to be on the ballot in all 50 states, he has not yet qualified for Nevada.
Bob Ward from Fabrizio Ward noted that Kennedy’s presence on the ballot could significantly diminish Biden’s chances in Nevada. Among voters aged 50 and older, Biden trails Trump by 12 points. This poll is slightly more favorable for Biden compared to an earlier New York Times/Siena poll, which showed him 13 points behind Trump.
Nevada, with its six electoral votes, is a critical battleground in what is expected to be a close presidential election. In 2020, Biden narrowly won Nevada by 2.7 percentage points. Bob Ward emphasized the importance of battleground states, suggesting any of them could be decisive.
In addition to the presidential race, Senator Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., is in a competitive Senate race with Republican Sam Brown. The poll indicates Rosen leads Brown by 5 points among all voters, but Brown is ahead by 5 points among older voters. Jeff Liszt from Impact Research highlighted the influence of split-ticket voters—those voting for a mix of candidates from different parties—as a key factor in the election.
The poll, conducted from June 12-18, surveyed 1,400 likely Nevada voters. No margin of error was provided.
