Maher argued that Biden has more to prove compared to Trump, who is already a known quantity.
Paul countered that Biden has shown he can deliver compelling speeches, likely referencing his recent State of the Union address. Bowles humorously suggested pre-debate drug testing.
Maher reflected on shifting perceptions, noting that post-election sentiment moved from “Trump is finished” to the current belief that Biden “can’t win,” as he trails in key swing states except Wisconsin. He emphasized that despite Biden’s achievements, they haven’t swayed public opinion, urging Democrats to take action.
Paul hinted at Biden’s age and health, which Maher quickly clarified they weren’t wishing ill upon him. Maher likened their conversation to children gathered around a hospital bed, underscoring their concern for Biden’s viability as a candidate. He previously called for Biden to be replaced on the ticket in February, following a report that raised questions about Biden’s mental acuity.
