Former Vice President Mike Pence stated during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Story” on Friday that he would not be endorsing former President Donald Trump for the presidency.
During the interview, anchor Martha MacCallum raised the question, noting that Trump had secured the nomination earlier in the week and had garnered endorsements from some of his former rivals. She asked Pence if he would be endorsing his former running mate.
In response, Pence expressed his appreciation for the question and clarified that he would not be endorsing Trump this time around. He highlighted his pride in the accomplishments of their administration, emphasizing its conservative agenda that aimed to enhance America’s prosperity, security, and judicial appointments, as well as promote global peace.
However, Pence also noted significant differences between himself and Trump, citing not only their disparities in handling constitutional duties, particularly regarding the events of January 6, but also their contrasting stances on various issues. Pence observed shifts in Trump’s approach, including a departure from addressing the national debt and a wavering commitment to protecting the sanctity of human life, which influenced his decision not to endorse him.
