In a recent podcast interview, Hillary Clinton, the unsuccessful Democratic presidential candidate, openly acknowledged President Joe Biden’s age of 81, emphasizing that it’s essential for voters to come to terms with this reality.
During Tuesday’s episode of Sirius XM’s Mornings with Zerlina, Clinton addressed concerns about Biden’s age, asserting, “Somebody the other day said to me… ‘Well, but, you know, Joe Biden’s old.’ I said, ‘You know what, Joe Biden is old. Let’s go ahead and accept the reality. Joe Biden is old.'”
Clinton compared Biden to former President Donald Trump, highlighting Biden’s effectiveness and his non-threatening stance towards democracy, unlike Trump, whom she characterized as old, incoherent, dangerous, and a threat to democracy.
She urged Americans to choose between the two elderly candidates and prioritize the preservation of democracy. Despite acknowledging potential discomfort with Vice President Kamala Harris ascending to the presidency, Clinton attributed concerns about Biden’s age primarily to Americans’ apprehension about aging.
Regarding worries over Harris assuming the presidency, Clinton suggested that societal biases against age and gender may factor into such concerns.
A recent New York Times and Siena College poll revealed that a majority (61 percent) of Biden’s 2020 supporters now believe he is too old to lead the nation.
