Trump Criticizes Hunter Biden Indictment by Justice Department as the ‘Only Offense’ Not Involving the President

Former President Donald Trump is directing his criticism at the Justice Department following the indictment of Hunter Biden, President Biden’s son, on federal firearms charges.

In a post on Truth Social, the former president asserted that the gun charge was “the sole offense committed by Hunter Biden that does not implicate Crooked Joe Biden.”

The indictment against Hunter Biden, filed in federal court in Delaware by a special counsel overseeing the case, accuses him of providing false information about his drug use when purchasing a weapon in 2018, a period during which he openly acknowledged grappling with a crack cocaine addiction.

These charges, emerging weeks after a plea deal fell through, mark the latest development in a long-standing investigation into the president’s son, potentially leading to a high-profile trial, coinciding with a probable rematch between President Biden and Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Shortly after news of Hunter Biden’s indictment broke, Trump took to social media to reiterate his unsubstantiated allegations that the Justice Department is actively working to undermine his candidacy in the 2024 election.

GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, on the other hand, announced his directive to launch an impeachment inquiry into the president. House Republicans claim that while serving as vice president in the Obama administration, President Biden benefited from his son’s foreign business dealings.

Trump also criticized the Justice Department and Democrats, labeling federal indictments against him related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack and the handling of classified documents after leaving the White House as “unfair, illegal Witch Hunts.”

Trump was not the sole Republican presidential contender responding to the significant developments involving Hunter Biden.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur and Trump’s prominent supporter among the array of GOP presidential hopefuls, contended on social media that “Today’s indictment of Hunter Biden is a diversion. Don’t be misled.”

Ramaswamy asserted, “This is a distraction meant to divert attention from the real issue: the Biden family’s manipulation of U.S. foreign policy for their own family’s financial gain. That’s the actual problem, and we must hold politicians from both major parties accountable when they exploit our foreign policy for their family members’ enrichment.”

Doug Burgum, the Governor of North Dakota and another contender for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, conveyed in an interview on Fox News’ “Your World with Neil Cavuto” that he views these indictments as just the beginning of a more extensive investigation.

“The larger concern is influence peddling and the potential compromise of U.S. foreign policy with other nations due to illicit payments channeled through these shell companies,” Burgum remarked. “It’s positive that the inquiry is ongoing, and I believe it’s essential to continue pursuing it.”
