National Poll Shows Vivek Ramaswamy Closing the Gap on Ron DeSantis for 2024 GOP Nomination, with a Margin of Just 6%

Vivek Ramaswamy, a prominent Republican presidential contender, clarified his commitment to supporting former President Donald Trump as the party’s nominee, even in the event of a conviction.

Ramaswamy shared his perspective on ABC News’ “This Week” during a conversation with host George Stephanopoulos, addressing Trump’s ongoing legal challenges and his presidential aspirations.

Stephanopoulos questioned Ramaswamy about his stance, asking why he believed it was acceptable for a convicted felon to run for president.

In response, Ramaswamy expressed concerns about what he perceived as politically motivated prosecutions against Trump and the potential implications for the country’s legal system. He emphasized his commitment to choosing the best candidate for the presidency and his belief that Trump or the Republican nominee would be a preferable choice over alternatives.

Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old entrepreneur, currently occupies the third position in national polls for the Republican primary, trailing Trump and closely following second-place candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, as indicated by the RealClearPolitics polling average.

Ramaswamy gained significant attention after the initial primary debate in August, notably for his interactions with other participants, including former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

During the debate, Ramaswamy was among the few candidates who raised their hand in support of Trump as the party’s nominee, regardless of a potential conviction.

Trump had faced four indictments on over 100 counts brought by federal prosecutors and Democratic district attorneys in New York City and Fulton County, Georgia.
