Tucker Carlson, the former host of a highly-rated news show on Fox, is set to moderate the inaugural GOP Presidential Candidate Forum for the 2024 election cycle, marking a significant development. The event, organized by The FAMiLY Leader and reported by The Daily Wire, will take place this Friday at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.
However, one notable absence from this noteworthy gathering will be former President Donald J. Trump. While an array of candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, U.S. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, will be participating, Trump will not be present.
The lineup of candidates aims to present a diverse range of conservative ideas and leadership styles within the Republican Party. According to Mediaite, a spokesperson for Trump explained that the former president’s absence from the forum was due to a scheduling conflict involving a speech commitment at the Turning Point Action conference.
Tucker Carlson’s forum is anticipated to serve as a crucial platform for Republican presidential candidates to articulate their policy positions and present their vision for the future of America.
Carlson said in a statement: “There’s a lot of conversation about the future of the Republican Party and I think part of that will be working out exactly what populism is.”
Tucker added, “We’re going to go down the list. What about foreign wars, what about the idea that maybe the middle class ought to be at the very center of our economy?”
Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and first-generation American, expressed appreciation for the event, recognizing it as an opportunity for substantive discussions and the exchange of ideas. He stated, “I’m excited for it. I think it’s a good chance to have a discussion about ideas, to have a substantive discussion.”
