Mayra Flores, a Texas Republican, Declares Bid for Congressional Comeback

Mayra Flores, a former Texas Representative, has announced her candidacy for Congress in 2024 with the intention of reclaiming the seat she lost in the previous midterm election.

During an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Flores expressed her goal to “flip the district” and “take back what’s ours.”

“I am announcing my candidacy for Congress,” Flores stated. “We are determined to reclaim Texas District 34, and I am very excited and have faith in God, my family, and my incredible team. The people of South Texas and all Americans deserve a voice in Washington.”

Flores emphasized her commitment to combating child trafficking, advocating for the empowerment of Border Patrol agents, strengthening border security, and addressing the issue of trafficked children within the country.

To illustrate her point, she referred to a report frequently cited by the House Oversight Committee, which revealed that the Office of Refugee Resettlement had lost contact with 85,000 minors after their arrival across the border.

“This is about our children, their future, and their parents. It’s also about the children who are being brought into the United States to be trafficked,” she added.

When questioned about why Latinos should trust the Republican Party, Flores asserted that she believed the party’s values were fundamentally more aligned with the community’s principles than those of the Democratic Party.

“Our values align with the Republican Party. I am pro-God, pro-life, pro-family,” Flores responded. “People often ask me why I am conservative. Having been born in Mexico, we were raised with strong conservative values that prioritize God and family.”
