Former President Donald Trump responded strongly to the recently announced plea deal involving Hunter Biden, expressing his dissatisfaction with the outcome.

He likened the deal to a mere “traffic ticket” and reiterated his allegations of political bias and corruption within the Department of Justice. Speaking to Fox News, Trump shared his thoughts on the matter:

“They gave him a traffic ticket and cleared everything up. It is a disgrace to the system, it is a disgrace to America, it is a very unfair situation, it is prosecutorial misconduct, and it is election interference — all wrapped up into one.”

Trump claimed that if one of his sons were being investigated, the situation would be entirely different.

He criticized the justice system and the FBI, labeling them as corrupt. Trump suggested that if a member of his family were involved, they would likely be facing severe penalties, potentially amounting to “hundreds of years.”

In response, his son, Don Jr., highlighted what he perceived as the highly politicized nature of the Justice Department under Joe Biden.

He characterized the plea deal as evidence of favoritism and a clear indication of a two-tiered justice system that is influenced by one’s political affiliation.

Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for a Trump-aligned super PAC, said: “The American people need President Trump back in office to appoint a truly independent special prosecutor that will finally bring justice.”

Earlier today, it was announced that Hunter Biden has reached a plea agreement in which he will plead guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax. Additionally, he has agreed to enter into a pretrial diversion agreement for a separate charge related to firearm possession while unlawfully using or addicted to controlled substances.

According to David Weiss, the U.S. attorney for Delaware, the investigation into Hunter Biden is still ongoing and requires approval from a federal judge.

Weiss explained that as part of the plea agreement, Hunter Biden will not be sentenced to jail time. Typically, the tax charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 24 months, while the firearm charge could result in a 10-year prison term.

Hunter Biden’s criminal counsel, Chris Clark of Clark Smith Villazor, stated that the announcement of these two agreements resolves the five-year investigation into Hunter’s activities.

Clark clarified, “Hunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement. A firearm charge, which will be subject to a pretrial diversion agreement and will not be the subject of the plea agreement, will also be filed by the Government.”

Donald Trump’s comments have raised questions and fueled concerns about what some Republicans perceive as the politicization of Department of Justice agencies.
