Megyn Kelly, the host of SiriusXM, labeled Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as a “chicken” for declining to appear on her show for an interview.
Expressing her views on the 2024 presidential race, Kelly remarked that Trump exudes charisma while DeSantis appears stiff and lacking in natural charm. She suggested that DeSantis might have potential as a candidate in the future but emphasized that it is currently “Trump’s turn.”
Furthermore, Kelly criticized DeSantis for announcing his candidacy on Twitter instead of opting for a news platform. Despite the governor’s announcement on Twitter attracting millions of views and substantial donations, Kelly described it as a “disaster,” stating:
“It was embarrassing and awkward and had the bewildering, unsteadying feel of a disaster unfolding before your very eyes. You can’t look away, and yet you’re viscerally uncomfortable watching too.”
Kelly added: “He made the announcement on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk and our pal David Sacks. Kudos to all involved for choosing a different medium and bypassing the mainstream media, which hates DeSantis and which is *hated* by most Republican voters.”
Following her criticism of DeSantis for evading interviews where he would face challenging questions, Kelly provocatively urged DeSantis to exhibit courage and join her show by telling him to “be a man” and “grow a pair.”
Having referred to DeSantis as a “chicken,” the ex-Fox News host mentioned that she had been in contact with the DeSantis team but expressed surprise at the lack of a positive response to her interview request.
“Grow a pair. Like, come on for an adversarial interview with somebody who is going to ask you some tough questions. Be a man. I’m sick of the duck and cover drill that he’s doing only with friendly media,” Kelly said.
