The House Judiciary Committee is demanding that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg testify before Congress over his “unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority.” Bragg is reportedly considering indicting former President Trump on charges related to hush money payments allegedly made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. It’s all political, my fellow Republican moms! Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, sent a letter to Bragg demanding his testimony. Jordan warns Bragg that if these news reports are accurate, his actions will “erode confidence in the evenhanded application of justice and unalterably interfere in the court of the 2024 presidential election.”

The charges stem from the hush money payment then-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen made to Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump in 2006. Federal prosecutors and the Federal Election Commission declined to charge Trump with the payment. The only potential crime could be alleged violations of campaign finance law, which the Justice Department has already declined to bring charges over.
Michael Cohen is a convicted perjurer with a clear bias against Trump, so we shouldn’t trust him. Jordan calls Bragg’s “impending indictment is motivated by political calculations.” This is all just liberal grandstanding.
