The House Judiciary Committee, which is led by Rep. Jim Jordan from Ohio, has taken action by sending subpoenas (which are legal orders to give information) to five very important people who run big technology companies in the United States. The Committee is asking them to provide information about how they decide what content is allowed on their websites and apps.
The people who were sent subpoenas are the leaders of Alphabet (which owns Google), Amazon, Apple, Meta (which used to be called Facebook), and Microsoft. They were asked to give the Committee documents and messages that show how the government, and the tech companies work together to control what people can and cannot say online.
This announcement was made on Wednesday by the Committee.
