Watch: Footage Emerges of Rudy Giuliani Slap Incident: ‘All of a Sudden, I Feel This ‘Bam!’’

New details are emerging in the June 26 assault on “America’s Mayor,” Rudy Giuliani. The former mayor, 78, reports that it felt like “somebody shot me.”

The former mayor was in Staten Island for a meet-and-greet campaign stop with his son when attacked.

Previously, RTM reported that Giuliani was in New York to support his son in his “bid to secure the Republican nomination for New York state governor in a contest against Long Island State Representative Lee Zeldin.”

Giuliani reports that “he was at a store on Veteran’s Road greeting supporters when suddenly he was hit from behind.”

Surveillance video obtained by the New York Post confirms the incident.

According to the Post, Giuliani said: “All of a sudden, I feel this ‘Bam!’ on my back. I don’t know if they helped me not fall down, but I just about fell down, but I didn’t.”

Elaborating, Giuliani recounted: “I feel this tremendous pain in my back, and I’m thinking, what the — I didn’t even know what it was. All of a sudden, I hear this guy say, ‘You’re a f–king scumbag,’ then he moves away so nobody can grab him.”

Noting that the assailant disclosed the reason for the attack, Giuliani said, “And he says, ‘You, you’re one of the people that’s gonna kill women…You and your f–king friend are gonna kill women.’ Then he starts yelling out all kinds of, just curses, and every once in a while, he puts in that woman thing.”

Leaving no doubt as to the motive for the attack, the assailant reportedly said: “You guys think you’re saving babies, but you’re gonna kill women.”

The man continued to rage, reported Giuliani.

Though he agreed with former President Donald Trump’s nominations of several conservative Supreme Court justices, Giuliani of course, did not share in the vote to put justices on the bench, nor did he share in last Friday’s vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Further, many have pointed out that despite the assailant’s claim that remanding the abortion issue back to individual states will “kill women” and disproportionally discriminate against women of color, last Friday’s Supreme Court ruling will in fact save many lives — primarily female and primarily people of color.

Surveillance video appears to show Giuliani being slapped on the back at a ShopRite grocery store.

Giuliani also called in to the Curtis Sliwa show on 77 WABC talk radio to discuss the incident, saying: “The Supreme Court made a decision. You don’t go around attacking people because of it. I mean, go get it changed.”

It felt like “somebody shot me,” said the former mayor. “Luckily, I’m a 78-year-old who is in pretty good shape. If I wasn’t, I would have hit the ground and probably cracked my skull.”

Noting his reputation as a tough-on-crime mayor and former federal prosecutor, Giuliani told the Post he felt it was his duty to involve the police.

“I say to myself, ‘You know something? I gotta get this guy arrested,’” he said. “I talk about ‘broken windows’ theory all the time. You can’t let the little things go.”

“I’m like, ‘I’m gonna get this guy arrested as an example that you can’t do this. And I said, also, in New York, we don’t prosecute people anymore And one of the reasons I brought crime down is I didn’t ignore stuff like this.”

The suspect, Daniel Gill, 39, from Staten Island, was charged with second-degree assault involving a person over age 65. Gill has no prior arrests, sources said.

Citing the cowardice of a 39-year-old man who attacked a senior adult from behind, Giuliani’s friend, Dr. Maria Ryan, told the Post. “[Rudy’s] a 78-year-old man with a bad back and bad knees.”

Rudy’s son Andrew said that his father is “doing fine,” adding, “but it’s a sad day when New Yorkers’ greatest crime fighter, ‘America’s Mayor,’ is attacked. I blame the left-wing for encouraging violence. This is crazy.”

The Post noted that shortly after the event, Andrew reported that his father was “in good spirits and even quipped that ‘I ran into the only person who is not voting for Andrew Giuliani.’”
