Elon Musk‘s recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience provided insights that challenge the notion that “one citizen, one vote” is the foundation of our democracy. Over three hours, Musk — a prominent engineer, entrepreneur, and provocateur — exposed what he describes as Washington’s longest-standing deception: a taxpayer-funded system that converts illegal immigrants into future Democratic voters.

Musk was straightforward, stating that the current government shutdown is not merely about budget disagreements but rather stems from Democrats’ unwillingness to reduce the hundreds of billions spent on welfare that attracts migrants. He asserted, “Turn off the cash, and the migrants leave. Cut the flow of migrants, and the left’s imported electorate vanishes.”
He emphasized that restoring the rule of law at the borders would also restore integrity to the electoral process, a future worth fighting for. Joe Rogan was taken aback by Musk’s revelations, particularly when a former head of the Department of Government Efficiency confirmed what many Americans have suspected: the government’s spending has evolved into a political mechanism.
The Welfare Magnet
Musk’s argument is clear. Welfare programs in blue states — such as Medicaid expansions, housing vouchers, and in-state tuition — portray America as a land of “free everything” for those who cross the border. When Rogan inquired about the consequences of halting these benefits, Musk responded, “The Democratic Party will lose a lot of voters.”
He noted that California’s Democratic supermajority was not a coincidence; it was constructed gradually, sanctuary by sanctuary. This model is now extending to Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and other battleground states with extensive welfare systems. The U.S. Census already rewards high-immigration states with additional congressional seats and Electoral College votes. With the addition of motor-voter laws, same-day registration, and ballot harvesting, the system shifts without requiring any illegal ballots.
This is a matter of arithmetic, not conspiracy. Since 2021, over a million individuals have entered the U.S. under “humanitarian” pretexts through Department of Homeland Security programs. Federally funded NGOs assist them at the border, transporting them to swing districts and enrolling them in various benefits.
Musk contended that ending these handouts would lead to a voluntary departure within weeks, without the need for ICE raids. However, Democrats view any attempt to cut these programs as a threat to their political survival. Their own data indicates that when the influx halts, red states remain red, blue states become competitive, and the Electoral College landscape shifts.
The Real Shutdown Fight
Musk argued that this is why Democrats would prefer to bring Washington to a standstill rather than relinquish their demographic edge. The so-called “shutdown” is not merely a budgetary dispute; it is a struggle to maintain a political apparatus.
He introduced Donald Trump’s enforcement agenda, which many voters expected after the 1986 amnesty deal that ultimately failed. This includes mass deportations, mandatory E-Verify, ending catch-and-release, and a thorough audit of every federal dollar allocated to “new arrivals.”
Critics often label these measures as “xenophobic,” similar to their past characterization of a border wall as “immoral.” However, this issue transcends political divides; it is about citizens versus cartels. Individuals from various backgrounds, including a union welder in Pennsylvania, a black business owner in Atlanta, and a Latino pastor in Miami, all suffer when the voting rights of citizens are diluted by noncitizens who circumvent the legal system.
Representative democracy erodes when representation is determined by who crosses the border first. Genuine elections demand verifiable citizens, not individuals who can be easily manipulated. Ethical leaders prioritize protecting the franchise as they would sensitive information.
The Solution
The appeal of Trump’s immigration strategy lies in its universality: America First means prioritizing American tax dollars for American citizens, not for an imported electorate. This includes requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote, ending chain migration and the visa lottery, completing the border wall, and empowering ICE and Customs and Border Protection to fulfill their roles. The crisis will dissipate when the incentives do.

No more last-minute ballot drops in crucial districts. No more manipulation of census data. Just a return to the fundamental principle: adhere to the rules, and the rules will safeguard you.
A Choice Beyond Party Lines
This battle extends beyond political affiliation and individual personalities. It concerns whether your grandchild’s vote will hold weight in 2050. Advocate for robust immigration enforcement, demand audits of federal spending, ignore media-driven racial tensions and emotional justifications, and eliminate programs that divert taxpayer funds to those who entered the country illegally.
When the rule of law is reinstated at our borders, it will also return to our electoral processes. That’s a future worth striving to achieve.
